Week of August 29

 Good afternoon,

I hope everyone has had an awesome, well-rested weekend. We had an amazing week last week!! Mostly everyone had share their Museum about me. we also had a chance to share in Angelina's birthday!! We had cupcakes and everyone received a goody bag. Tanvi, was so sweet and made a Pokemon gift for her and a pop-up card for everyone to sign....melted my heart.  Let's continue to talk to our babies about random acts of kindness, so it can continue to trickle into the classroom.

Also, I am starting Class Dojo. Please be sure to join, here's the link (Class Dojo link). This will give you a daily analysis of your little hero's behavior. It also is a link we use to watch videos and have discussions about a positive mindset, which falls in line with our 7 Mindsets. You will receive more information on the 7 Mindsets on Tuesday night during orientation. I hope everyone had the opportunity to see the last post about parent orientation on Tuesday evening. There will be 2 virtual sessions, one from 5-5:30 (link) and the other from 5:45-615 (link).

First Week - August 19th

                                                     Bitmoji Image

Woohoo! We have completed our first week of school!! We have spend a lot of time this week talking about procedures. I focused a lot on this being like "a family away from home" and my expectations. I want them to treat each other nice and kind. We, also, discussed expectations and how being at the big kid school is a little different from Lower Campus. We have so much to learn this year and we have 4 subjects as to comparison of 2. So, this transition may be a little hard for them at first but trust me, we will get through it together. We have had to change some seats and I explained that I want them to be able to focus and take everything in. I know this is new, especially since we have been off for the summer, but we're going to have pull the chatting in just a tad. I am super excited we are partnering together to help your student grow this year and I want to ensure that we have an awesome 3rd grade year!!

This week we worked on building our classroom community and culture and setting up our notebooks AVID style. Next week, we will begin our actual curriculum and they will begin receiving graded papers. They will be coming home in our green Friday parent communication folder on Fridays. I did send this home today, but there are no graded papers in it today. It has my schedule, a letter in reference to the reading SC Ready test, and other little odds and ends.

Also, some of them did not bring in their items and index cards for the "All About Me Museum". This is a very simple task and I will be using this for their first social studies grade. If they did not bring them in today, they can bring them in Monday and present them.

Last but not least, we will begin Google Classroom on Monday. I will post notes and any presentations we use in class. Your student should have the notes in their notebooks, but you can also get them to log into their Google Classroom. Technology is going to be used for math and reading (Big Ideas, Xtra Math, Freckle, Readtheory, Vocabulary.com, and Pathblazer). They will learn how to use all of these and the links will be in our Google Classroom. Chromebooks will not be coming home, but they can still log on using their Richland 2 sign in. Please make sure they have headphones.
